Powder paints and anti-graffiti powder paints for removing vandalism
In our next "Expert's Eye" series, we will tell you about the differences, properties, and purpose of powder coatings and anti-graffiti powder coatings for removing vandalism.
We already know that using powder coatings to create finishes is certainly one of the most modern and durable surface treatment methods in the world! But as it turns out, in today's world, that's still not enough! Not everyone 'craves beauty' and durability, and the rebellion of the so-called 'angry youth' in the form of graffiti, which is not always related to art, leads to the destruction of both private and public property, and the costs are usually borne by their owners.
The answer and the solution to the scale of destruction and the growing problem of graffiti and vandalism in many countries was the appearance on the market of anti-graffiti powder paints as early as the 1990s.
It sounds unbelievable, but according to experts, this is the most effective way to protect surfaces from permanent staining by paint and markers applied by rebellious graffiti artists.
The scale of graffiti destruction of many buildings, including historical and industrial sites, urban and garden architecture such as benches, signs, information boards, railings, trash cans, or bus shelters in every city is enormous today.
We also see traces of controversial street art on our fences, garage doors, and in public transportation (rail and bus, as well as the subway). That's why modern anti-graffiti powder paints are used to combat acts of vandalism. Thanks to them, removing graffiti is easier and less expensive because it doesn't penetrate the coating's structure, and removing it doesn't require sanding or repainting.
This contamination on the powder coating can be easily removed using mild solvents or special cleaning agents, without the risk of damaging the coating itself.
The question often arises, what is the difference between powder coating and anti-graffiti powder coating?
You certainly need to know that these are two different products that differ in their purpose and properties. Below are their definitions:
- Powder coating is a general term for a type of paint that is applied in powder form and then cured at high temperature. It is used to protect and decorate various surfaces, such as metal, wood, and plastic.
- Powder anti-graffiti paint is a special type of powder paint designed specifically to protect surfaces from graffiti and other forms of illegal painting. It has properties that make it difficult for paint and markers to stick to it, making it easier to remove them.
In summary, any powder coating can be used for protection and decoration, but only anti-graffiti powder coating is specifically designed to fight graffiti. Today, it is especially recommended for investors and designers seeking long-term protection for metal and aluminum surfaces.
